I've decided to add something to this blog: my weight loss journey. I love having a place to share my hair care tips, tricks, struggles, and successes. I use an online food and exercise diary, but I like the idea of being able to write out what does and doesn't work for me. Even if no one else ever reads this, or at least not until I reach my goals, being able to write stuff out is really great for me!
Anyway, I've changed the name (but not the web address) of this blog to "Journeyings". My hair journey, my weight loss journey, any other journey I might decide to go on!
So to get started with weight loss:
I am currently 140 lbs. This is the heaviest I've ever been and I really don't want to ever weight any more. I have days that I love my body, and days that I hate it. Mostly I'm losing weight for the sake of my health, looking good for certain things (aka if I get married someday I want to look fab), and for the health of any babies I might have in the future. As I am in my early 20s I have begun to realize that all of these things are becoming more more important as I come closer to them. As I've mentioned in my hair posts, having a good diet and exercising is also important for healthy hair.
My goal weight is 120. It's toward the low end, but no where near the lowest, of a healthy BMI for my gender and height. I also have some goals about body fat percentage, but I intend to reach my weight goal first and then work towards that. Although I do quite a bit of strength training and not just cardio because building muscle increases your metabolism.
Here's my tip of the day: Carrot chips. Omg... they're better than potato chips, I swear. They're easy to make (thinly slice some carrots swish them a little in oil and salt, bake for 10-20 minutes at 350), they're delicious, and they have less than half the calories (about 50 for a regular sized carrot), and a ton of other nutrients that potato chips just don't have.
